Governor's Task Force on Infant Mortality program files, 1985-1991.

This series consists of correspondence, minutes, clippings, news releases, reports, and slides that document the activities of the Governor's Task Force on Infant Mortality. The task force evolved from the work of the Alabama Task Force on Prevention and Perinatal Health. At the first meeting of the infant mortality task force on 1987 Nov. 9, Governor Guy Hunt charged the members to make recommendations on actions needed to reduce infant mortality and morbidity in Alabama. The charge specified that each recommendation include a plan for implementation and funding. Medicaid Agency Commissioner Carol A. Herrman was responsible for maintaining the records of this task force.
